Virtual – The Fed Gambit: Playing Chicken with the Labor Market and Inflation
Sep 21, 2022 12:00 am – 1:15 pm
Two months ago fears of a recession abounded, with many wondering if that was going to slow or stop the Fed rate hiking cycle. Those fears have abated as the job market shows no signs of slowing and demand for housing and autos continue to outstrip supply. While inflation looks like it has peaked, it is still well above the Fed’s 2% target. This means the Fed is going to have to keep tightening with a high risk that they have to overdo it to maintain their inflation fighting credibility. Our speaker Gerald Cohen, Chief Economist of the Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise, will discuss these challenges and what this means for businesses and investors.
