In an effort to retain deal flow, the largest market capitalization segment of the direct lending sector, which tends to compete more directly with the broadly syndicated market, has experienced notable spread compression in newly issued deals. This ongoing dynamic presents some underlying risks and opportunities that investors should know.

Robert is a Research Analyst at First Trust Capital Management L.P. (FTCM). Robert is focused on supporting all aspects of the investment research efforts.
Prior to joining FTCM, Robert worked as an investment analyst and trader with an RIA in the Southeast focused on fixed-income credit research and portfolio management across high-yield corporate and tax-exempt municipal markets.
Robert is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Finance and an undergraduate certificate in Real Estate Analysis and Development. While at Penn State, Robert interned at Citigroup Global Markets as a sales and trading summer analyst. Robert is a CFA charterholder.
