SUMMARY:World Water Day: Investing in our Most Valuable Resource
DESCRIPTION:Join us on World Water Day to hear experts discuss how investors can improve global water scarcity while positioning portfolios to benefit from attractive opportunities in the space. They will examine water consumption patterns\, climate change\, supply disruptions\, and what the private sector can do via infrastructure investment to bring balance to the supply/demand gap of this precious resource. Topics include: \n\n\n\nWater consumption has increased by more than 150% in the past five decades worldwide yet supply—mainly from rainwater—remains unevenly distributed\, leaving few choices to address water shortages. The need for water-related investment over the next decade is worldwide. In Europe and the United States alone\, billions of dollars will be spent on water infrastructure where demand for water is outpacing supply\, driven by population growth\, expansion of agriculture\, and more water-intensive consumption as living standards continue to rise. The Global Water Crisis is so severe-a third of the world’s population lacks access to safe drinking water- that the United Nations lists “Ensuring access to water and sanitation for all” as one of its 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Achieving that goal requires a massive buildout of infrastructure driven by thoughtful management of investment capital.Climate change is exacerbating water challenges as we experience more severe weather patterns\, prolonged droughts\, flooding\, and unseasonal temperatures. As a result\, places that once had adequate water (including our own California and other Western States) may now require significant infrastructure upgrades to meet individual and industrial needs.\n\n\n\nThis event is offered in partnership with Virtus.
