SUMMARY:Geopolitical Update with Former US Ambassador: John Emerson
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an intimate and insightful conversation with John Emerson\, former United States ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany and Vice Chairman of Capital Group International\, as he touches on the current and future geo-political landscape with Jane Leung\, CFA\, Head of Investment Solutions and President at SVB Investment Services Inc. \n\n\n\nIt is hard to turn on the T.V.\, pick up the newspaper\, or look at social media without seeing something about Russia\, Ukraine\, tensions in Asia\, sanctions\, gas\, oil\, inflation\, and more. Amidst the noise and much misinformation\, it is hard to know how the Russian invasion of Ukraine will continue to impact the world\, or how the tension between Taiwan and China will affect the globe. And\, the US will have just completed mid-term elections so the conversation will include sifting through possible implications of those results along with world events and the ensuing repercussions to our financial markets and more. \n\n\n\nJohn Emerson\, Vice Chairman\, Capital Group International\, Inc. | John Emerson works in global distribution as vice chairman of Capital Group International\, Inc. He has 20 years of industry experience\, all with Capital Group. He most recently served as the United States ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany. In 2015\, Mr. Emerson was awarded the State Department’s Susan M. Cobb Award for Exemplary Diplomatic Service\, which is given annually to one non-career ambassador\, and in 2017 he was awarded the CIA Medal and the U.S. Navy’s Distinguished Public Service award. \n\n\n\nPrior to accepting the ambassadorial posting\, Mr. Emerson was president of Capital Group Private Client Services. Before joining Capital\, he was deputy assistant to President Clinton where he coordinated his economic conferences\, served as the president’s liaison to the nation’s governors\, and led the administration’s efforts to obtain congressional approval of the GATT Uruguay Round Agreement and the extension of China’s MFN trading status. Additionally\, he was appointed by President Obama to serve on his Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations. Before working in the Clinton White House\, John served as Los Angeles Chief Deputy City Attorney\, and was a partner in the law firm of Manatt\, Phelps\, Rothenberg\, and Phillips. SUMMARY:Member Only-Coming Back to the "60/40" in 2023?
DESCRIPTION:A Virtual Round Table Discussion for investment Professionals with an interest in Private Wealth Management \n\n\n\nAs we leave 2022 in the rear-view mirror and prepare for the opportunities and risks of managing portfolios in 2023 and beyond\, join other CFA NC members with an interest in Private Wealth Management in discussing this top-of-mind topic: asset allocation themes and considerations in the context of the new year. \n\n\n\nCome network with established friends and meet new contacts; be prepared to share your thoughts and expand the discussion. The format provides a robust discussion among professional colleagues rather than a formal presentation. \n\n\n\nEach breakout room will consist of 10-20 individuals with a pre-designated moderator to facilitate a worthwhile group discussion. The moderators will recap the individual breakout discussions when we get back together as one large group. Our goal is to provide an ongoing forum to advance the NC PWM community through thought leadership and the exchange of ideas. Help us make it a success. \n\n\n\nThis Round Table Event will focus on three topics: \n\n\n\n1)      Equities—What changes to your underlying equity exposure are you favoring to best serve your clients? We will debate positioning / potential rotation between US vs. International\, Large vs. Small Cap\, Growth vs. Value\, Weighting\, and Factor Strategies. \n\n\n\n2)      Fixed Income—What are you doing with the “40%” of the allocation equation on the back of 2022’s move toward higher rates? How is your outlook for inflation impacting allocation decisions for 2023 and beyond? \n\n\n\n3)      Capital Market Assumptions—Do you expect a recession in 2023? What returns do you consider appropriate for client financial plans over the next 10 years? How are you communicating these changes to clients and what questions are most top of mind for clients today?
