Below are the panelists’ bios for your reference. \n\n\n\nSpeaker Bios \n\n\n\nTony Rodriguez \n\n\n\nTony oversees fixed income strategy for Nuveen’s global fixed income team and is responsible for co-chairing the Investment Committee\, which establishes investment policy for all global fixed income products\, and communicating the team’s positioning. Prior to his current role\, Tony was the co-head of fixed income. Before joining the firm in 2002\, he was director and head of global corporate bonds at Credit Suisse Asset Management in New York. Previously\, he was managing director and head of corporate bonds for Prudential Global Asset Management. Tony also worked as a portfolio manager for General Electric Investment Corporation and in various financial management capacities for General Electric. Tony graduated with a B.A. in Economics from Lafayette College and an M.B.A. in Finance from New York University. \n\n\n\nMichael Davern\, CFA \n\n\n\nMichael is a senior market strategist at Nuveen. In this role\, he supports sales and marketing activity related to all of the firm’s municipal managed money products: open-end mutual funds\, closed-end funds and managed accounts. He serves as one of the company’s chief spokespersons on economic issues and investment philosophy\, especially related to municipal bond investments and tactical asset allocation. Michael brings a unique perspective as a long-time direct participant in the financial markets. He began working in the investment industry in 1985 and joined the firm as the head of credit research for predecessor firm Flagship Resources in 1992. Michael has spent most of his career as a portfolio manager of open- and closed-end municipal bond funds\, including state specific portfolios for Alabama\, Arizona\, California\, Florida\, Georgia\, Kansas\, Louisiana\, Michigan\, Missouri\, New Mexico\, Pennsylvania\, South Carolina\, Texas\, Washington and Wisconsin\, as well as national portfolios. Previously\, Michael worked at Van Kampen Merritt as a senior credit analyst. He began his municipal bond career at Fuji Bank. Michael graduated with an undergraduate degree from Illinois Benedictine University and a master’s degree in Finance from the University of Illinois. He holds the CFA designation and is a member of the Chicago Municipal Analysts Society and the Association of Investment Management and Research. \n\n\n\nBrian Griggs\, CFA \n\n\n\nBrian is a Portfolio Strategist\, responsible for promoting Nuveen’s investment views and approach to multi-asset portfolio construction. He meets with financial professionals and institutional clients to discuss how they can incorporate Nuveen’s best thinking in to their own portfolio management processes. Prior to joining the firm in 2018\, Brian worked at State Street Global Advisors as an Investment Strategist\, supporting the firm’s defined contribution plan clients\, and at Voya Investment Management as a Multi-Asset Portfolio Specialist. He began his career at Bloomberg LP as a Portfolio Risk & Derivatives Specialist. Brian graduated with a B.S. from Syracuse University and an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School. DESCRIPTION:The CFA Institute Research Challenge is an annual\, global competition that provides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis. Students work in teams to research and analyze a publicly-traded company and then write a research report on their assigned company with a buy\, sell\, or hold recommendation.   \n\n\n\nEach Research Challenge season leverages the efforts of over 150+ CFA member societies\, 3\,500+ member volunteers\, and more than 5\,000 students from over 1\,000 universities.     \n\n\n\nThe Challenge gathers students\, investment industry professionals\, publicly traded companies\, and corporate sponsors together locally\, regionally\, and globally for a real-world competition. Additionally\, all participants are introduced to and held to the standard of the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct.This year’s subject company is Albemarle Corporation.
