A sound understanding of alternative investments (AI) is fundamental for all serious finance and investment professionals. This course examines the characteristics\, benefits\, and risks of the various AI strategies including private equity\, hedge funds\, and derivatives. \n\n\n\nProfessionals from prominent local investment firms will lead this series so attendees will obtain unique perspectives on the current market. DESCRIPTION:IMC will provide an overview of momentum\, discuss common misconceptions about the factor – including its perceived riskiness and momentum crashes – share thoughts on the dynamic relationship between momentum and value\, and explain how momentum differs from growth. \n\n\n\nMomentum has long been a significant source of returns for investors. Yet\, there are many misconceptions about its existence\, its riskiness\, and how to properly harness its strength across global markets. IMC will provide an overview of the momentum factor\, share thoughts on why it exists and persists\, discuss how momentum’s formation path and lookback periods can influence performance in portfolio applications\, and differentiate naïve momentum from Informed Momentum\, a mechanism to translate the academia of momentum into tangible results for investors. Included in the overview will be a discussion on common myths related to the perceived risks of the factor. Finally\, IMC will provide various frameworks in which momentum can be beneficial to\, or even replace\, traditional style exposures in equity portfolios.
